Maya!!

Maya got her 10th tooth today! She got her 2nd molar up on the top. And we have noticed recently that she has been teething!! We've had a little bit of a cranky girl on our hands!
Maya and her "Iss" (dad in Finnish) have been window shopping for snowmobiles and boats with our new friend Ky. Maya is in love with trucks! She will sit at the window and watch the trucks paving the asphalt and make broom, broom noises. Maya also wants to feed herself with a spoon and drink by herself from a cup. She has gotten frustrated a few times and laid down on the floor and yelled,but we ignored her feeble attempt at a temper tantrum!
We are moving into our own place on September 1st. We changed our minds about the rental we first chose and are very happy with our decision. We just can't wait to get to sleep in our own bed! We haven't seen our stuff since mid-May! I can't even remember what I packed!
Otherwise, everything is going well. We are liking it here alot. No regrets about the decision!!

Mayan kymmenes hammas ilmestyi tanaan. Mayalla on oikea ja vasen ekat poskihampaat. Ja kylla neiti antoi tietaa etta hampaat olivat tulossa!! Kiukkunen oli vahasen meidan tytto! Maya ja hanen "Iss" ovat kayneet katsomassa moottorikelkkoja ja veneita meidan uuden ystavan Ky:n kanssa. Maya tykkaa hirveesti autoista! Han tykkasi istua ikkunan edessa ja katsoo asfaltti autot ja parryyttella! Maya myos haluaa syottaa ittensa lusikalla ja myos juoda kupista IHAN ITE. On Maya yrittanyt heittaytya latialle ja huutaa mutta me ei huomata Mayan miedot kohtaukset!
Muutamme omaan kamppaan 1.9. Ihanaa!! Odotamme sita iltaa kun saamme nukkua omassa sagyssa! Me viimeksi nahtiin omia tavaroita toukokuun puolessa valissa! En edes muista mita kaikkea pakkasin!
Muuten taalla menee hyvin. Tykataan paljon taalla olla. Ei kadehtia ollenkaan meidan paatosta!

Maya!!

What can I tell you about Maya these days!?!? She is getting to be SO MUCH FUN!!! She is a total copy-cat. If you clikc your tongue, she will click her tongue. Whenever she holds a tube of lotion or Desitin in her hands, she rubs her belly because she knows lotion gets rubbed in like that! She holds phones to her ears, tries to brush her hair with hairbrushes. She and Rex have become such great pals. She laughs SO hard when Rex comes up to her.

Maya on nykyaan NIIN hauska! Han matkii hirveesti. Jos klikkaat kielta, Maya tekee samaa. Kun Maya ottaa voidepurkin kateen han hankaa mahansa kun tytto tietaa etta niin sita laitetaan voidetta. Maya laittaa puhelimia korvaan (Mammaan tullut!!??) ja yrittaa harjata hiuksia harjalla. Mayasta ja Rekusta on tullut tosi hyvia kavereita. Maya nauraa niin kovasti kun Rekku tulee lahelle. Ja myos Maya syottaa Rekulle paljon paljon nameja!

Here are some pics of the potholes and mud that we have to deal with after is has rained for a few days. The potholes get so bad that you cannot drive faster than 10 mph. But, good news! The "highway" is being paved! Now there are traffic jams due to the roadwork. But the road will be nice!

Boating...Veneilemassa

The weekend before last we were invited by our new friends to go out on their boat. We went on a Sunday afternoon to a "fish-camp" and grilled hotdogs and just enjoyed the outdoors. It was Maya's and My first time on the Kuskokwim River with a boat. We had a great time. Maya wore a life preserver for the first time!

Noin 10 paivaa sitten ystavemme kutsuivat meidat heidan veneella joelle. Menimme sunnuntai iltapaivalla ja grillaattiin hodareita ja nautittiin kauniista kesapaivasta! Se oli minun ja Mayan ekakerta Kuskokwim Joella veneella. Meilla oli tosi hauskaa. Mayalla oli pelastusliivit ensimmaista kertaa paalla!

Aki's Dog Salmon..Akin Koiralohi

AKi went fishing and caught a 13 pound dog salmon(chum) and a bunch of silver salmon.

Aki sai taman koiralohen kun kavi kalalla viime viikonloppuna. Han myos sai paljon muuta lohta.

Maya received a Quespuk ("Kuspuk") from our friends Ida and Danielle for her first birthday! It is the traditional dress that the Yupi'k wear here.

Maya sai Queskukin ("kuspuk") meidan ystavilta Idalta ja Daniellelta syntymapaiva lahjaksi. Se on perinteinen Yupi'kin asu.

Hello everyone!!
Our vehicle has arrived here in Bethel!! It's a 96 white Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not the fanciest thing in the world but at least we can now get around Bethel and not have to walk everywhere IN THE MUD!! It's been raining for 2 days and the mud is back!
Otherwise we are doing well. I'm hoping to get pictures uploaded this weekend..
Maya said "Dad" in Finnish last week! That's so good because she started calling him "mom" in Finnish... Maya also is able to grab Mommy's or Daddy's nose when we ask her where our noses are! Such little things but it's so exciting for us!
Work is going well for me. I'm enjoying meeting all these new people but the new paperwork and just getting the logistics down is a challenge.
I hope to get pictures up this weekend!! Take care everyone!

Meidan auto saapui Betheliin eilen! Ei se maailman hienoin ole, mutta sopiva tanne Betheliin. Nyt paastaan seikkailemaan ympari Bethelia ja oppimaan tata kylaa vahan paremmin.
Taalla on satanut vetta paljon ja mutaa on joka puolella!!!
Muuten meilla menee hyvin.
Maya sanoi "Isi" viime viikolla! maya myos osaa ottaa Aitin ja Isin nenasta kiinni kun pyydetaan!! Niin pienia juttuja mutta meille niin jannaa!!
Minulla menee hyvin toissa ja olen tykanyt tutustua uusiin ihmisiin. taalla on paljon enemman paperityota kun mun edellisessa tyopaikassa.
