KYLMAA!! COLD!!!

Here is the forecast for tomorrow here in Bethel..

Snow likely. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Highs zero to 10 below. Northeast wind 10 to 25 mph. Wind chills 40 below to 60 below in the morning."

Right now at 6:32pm it is -25F with windchills at -60F! And I am NOT exaggerating! We have not been outside except to go from the house to the car and back again. We have had WEEKS of cold, cold weather and it's really starting to get old. We have been in pajamas pretty much the entire day! We miss Florida!

Taalla on ollut tosi kova pakkanen jo monta, monta viikkoa. Meinaa ihmisilla menna hermot! Tanaan on -32C ja tuulen kanssa -51C! Ja en liiottele ollenkaan! Pihalla ollaan sen verran etta paastaan kotoa autoon ja takaisin.. Yopeissa ollan oltu melkein koko paiva! Ikava on Floridaan!

Snow and Cold.. Lunta ja Pakkasta

Tanaan oli -31.2C ja lapset vaan leikkivat pihalla iso lumihangessa!
Mayan kouluun vihdoin saivat vetta! Putket ovat korjattu! Onneksi!

It was -24F today and our kids were outside playing in the huge snowpile!
Maya's school finally got water. The pipes have been fixed. Thank goodness!

Maya is 5 1/2 years old today! Maya on 5 1/2 vuotta vanha tanaan!

Today Maya is 5.5 years old! we celebrated with a cake! Maya is finally back in school after almost 5 weeks off for Christmas vacation. The water and sewer pipes froze at the schools and they were off of school for about a week because of that. They have been back in school this week but still don't have running water at the elementary school. They have to walk a few hundred feet in the cold and snow to the middle school to use the bathroom there.
Maya's upper Left tooth is loose! And she is SO excited! School is going well. They are having a K-300 reading race and now we are reading even more to her and Maya is reading to us as well. She is one amazing little girl!

Tanaan Maya on 5.5 vuotta vanha! Juhlittiin kakun kanssa. Maya on vihdoin takaisin koulussa 5 viikon joululoman jalkeen. Mayan koulun vesi putket jaatyi ja olivat pois koulusta viikon sen takia. Ovat nyt ollut takaisin koulussa tan viikon muttei viela ole vetta. Kasien desinfiointi aineella pesevat kadet ja pitaa kavella pakkasessa toiselle lahi koululle vessaa kayttaa.
Mayan yla vasen hammas liikkuu! Ja voi kun se on iso asia tassa talossa!
Mayan koulu menee hyvin. Heilla on lukemis kilpailu ja nyt pitaa meidan lukee Mayalle enemman ja Maya myos meille osaa jo vahasen lukee.. Han on aivan mahtava pikku tytto!

Bethel

Our trip back to Bethel went well. The kids behaved well. This was the first time that we have traveled all four of us together and everyone had their own seat. It went well!
It has been COLD. Very cold. It has been in around -20F to -30F since we got back. The windchills have been in the -40F. It's been tough. Last Friday it warmed up to -4F and it actually felt warm! With all the cold weather there has been frozen pipes and frozen cars. we luckily have only had to deal with the car issues. Maya's school's water and sewer pipes have been frozen for the past week so she has been out of school for an extra 6 days. Hopefully school will open up on Tuesday. Our Jeep has suffered during this cold. we luckily have been able to buy a 4X4 Ford F150 pickup from friends of ours and now we have a reliable vehicle. It's been a tough few weeks. We are HOPING for the weather to warm up! Aki is out today (temps -30F and windchill -40F) marking the trail for our premier dog sled race the K-300 which starts this Friday. Hoping Aki stays warm!
The kids really miss their grandparents and their uncle Marco.

Matka takaisin Betheliin meni hyvin. Tama oli eka kerta kun matkustimme kaikki nelja yhdessa ja lapsilla omat istumapaikat. kaikki meni hyvin! Lapset olivat kiltisti ja matka meni mukavasti!
Taalla on ollut erittain KYLMAA. Pakkasta on ollut joka paiva yli 30C ja tuulen kanssa jopa 40 pakkasta. Taa kylmyys on tuonut Betheliin suuria ongelmia. Mayan koulun vesi putket ovat jaatynyt ja lapset ovat ollut nyt pois koulusta koko viikon sen takia. Onneksi meilla kotona on putket pysynyt auki. Meidan Jeep auto on karsinyt kylmasta mutta onneksi saatii ostettu Ford neliveto pick-up truck ystavilta. Nyt on varma ajoneuvo.
Aki on tanaan merkkaamassa meidan K-300 koiravaljakko kisan reittia. Kilpailu alkaa perjantaina. Pakkasta on -30 ja toivomme etta Aki pysyy lampimana!
Lapset ikavoi Mammaa, Pappaa ja Marco-enoa...

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! (a little late!)
We had a New Years get together with our friends the Weilers and the KEnneys. There were 8 adults and 9 kids and 4 dogs and a slew of other animals! It was great organized chaos! We had a blast!

HYVAA UUTTA VUOTTA!! (vahan myohassa!)
Vietimme uusi vuosi Weiler ja Kenney ystavaperheitten kanssa. Oli 8 aikuista ja 9 lasta ja 3 koiraa ja monta muita elaimia! Kivaa organisoitua kaaosta! Oli hauskaa!

Florida Everglades

We drove down to Ft Lauderdale and met up with our dear Estonian friend Felix and his 2 kids to go on airboat rides and go see the alligators. I lived in Florida almost my entire life and have never done this! It was great! The kids had a blast! Elias was a little afraid when the gators would come up close to the airboat...

Asuin melkein koko elamani Floridassa ja tama oli minun eka kerta myos! Lapset nauttivat. Eliasta vahan pelotti kun alligoattorit tuli aika lahelle venetta...

So, Dec 28th we drove to Lake Worth to Heini's new salon Scandia Salon and Elias got his first haircut. He did great! No crying (mom didn't cry either! But I did save a cute little curl!).

28.12 ajoimme Lake Worthiin Heinin Scandia Salon kampaamoon ja ELias sai hanen eka hiustenleikkuu. Kaikki meni hyvin! Ei itekmista (ei aitikaan! Saastin yhden ihana kiharan kylla)!

Rulla Luistimet... Roller Skates!

Joulupukki toi Mayalle ja Eliakselle molemille rullaluistimet jouluksi! Perjantaisin Mayan koululla on rullaluistelua ja nyt ollaan valmiita!

Santa brought Maya and Elias rollerskates for Christmas! Every Friday evening we have a roller skating event at Maya's school's gym so we are ready to go!
