THE REAL MAYA!! Oikea Maya!

Maya and Leo

We babysat our friends' 18 month old son Leo for 5 days while they were at a conference. Maya loves Leo, especially helping take care of him and change his diaper. She doesn't realize that they are just about the same size! we had a great time with Leo. The kids played nicely...most of the time! 2 toddlers together meant some non-sharing moments for sure! This is the closest that I will ever be to having twins!

Meilla oli hoidossa 18kk Leo-poika viisi paivaa. Hanen vahemmat olivat konferensissa. Meilla meni ihan hyvin.

Here is Maya with her Dad. Aki is leaving for a hunting trip north of Kotzebue to hunt for sheep and bear. We are wishing him an exciting and VERY safe trip!! We will miss him very much!

Tassa on Maya hanen isin kanssa. Maya joskus kutsuu Akin "Ati"ksi mutta useammin han yrittaa sanoo ISI ja tulee neidin suusta "Tissii". Han kutsuu minut "tati"ksi. Mika sotkee amerikkalaisten paat koska se kuulostaa niinkuin Maya kutstuis minut Isiksi mutta enkuksi!
Aki lahtee huomenna metsastys reissuun Kotzebue nimiselta kylasta noin 160km pohjoiseen. Toivomme hanelle mukavaa ja erittain turvellista reissua! Ikava tulee!

Hip hop Maya!! Hip hoppari Maya!

Kipnuk Crew. Kipnukin tyokaverit

Here are the healthaides and office workers who made my days in Kipnuk go so smoothly. THANKS GUYS! I truly enjoy working with you all!

Tassa ovat mun tyokaverit Kipnukista!

Kipnuk ambulance... Kipnukin ambulanssi...

Here are pictures of the clinic and the parking lot full of four wheelers! That is how people get around. and since Kipnuk is so close to the sea and has so many lakes around, it gets WET!!
The four wheeler with the trailer hooked to it is the Kipnuk ambulance. It was my limo service to the airport since I had so many boxes of meds and supplies to take back to Bethel.

Tassa on kuvia Kipnukin klinikasta ja klinikan "parkkipaikka" taynna monkkareita. Niilla ihmiset kulkee.

Here are some pictures of the goodies that the healthaides fed me when I was in Kipnuk. The top few pictures are of Agudaq- which is Eskimo ice cream. It is SO good. The one had salmonberries, blueberries, raspberries and made with little bit of Crisco. The one with just the salmonberries also had seal oil mixed in and it was good as well! The picture with the green stuff was sourdock agudaq. Sourdock is a green leafy plant that is picked. It looks like breastfed baby diarrhea, but it tasted VERY GOOD!! And the bottom picture is of dried halibut and seal oil. I softened the halibut by chewing it flat and then dipped it into the seal oil. THe halibut was good, but I LOVED the agudaq!

Tassa on kuvia herkkuista mitka mun tyokaverit mulle syotti!

Kipnuk

More pictures of beautiful Kipnuk! I so enjoyed my time there! Next time I hope to go pick berries. When I arrived I found out that Kipnuk's water plant has not met FDA standards and so I needed to treat my drinking water with unscented bleach or boiling it for 2 minutes. I boiled. I think I did fine. Other providers bring GALLONS of water with them.

Lisaa kuvia ihanasta Kipnukista. Nautin ajastani siella. Ens kerralla toivottavasti paasen marjoja poimimassa. Mina kiehautin mun juoma veden. Parjasin ihan hyvin. Jotkut tyontekijat Bethelista tuovat monta GALLONAA vetta mukanaan.

Kipnuk

THe large building in the first picture is the school. It goes from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Se iso rakennus ensimmaisessa kuvassa on Kipnukin koulu. Kaikki koululaiset kay siella -eskarista lukioon.

Kipnuk kids! Kipnukin lapset

Here are some of the beautiful children in Kipnuk! The two girls in the picture were my tour guides. They picked me up in the store and walked all around with me! The baby that I am holding is TWIN A and a healthy girl she is! 9 months old and weighs 28 pounds!

Tassa on kuvia Kipnukin ihanista lapsista!
