Happy Birthday Maya! 24.7.2008

Happy Happy Happy 2nd birthday to our dear, beautiful, amazing, smiley, busy, wonderful daughter Maya. I can't believe that she is 2 already! The time has gone by so fast. Maya has taught me so much. I laugh, I cry, I get frustrated. She shows me how much patience I have learned in 2 years! We are so blessed to have such a healthy, wonderful child. She is everything we could have asked for and much much more. Your mommy and daddy love you so very much!!

PALJON PALJON onnea toista syntymapaivaa juhlivalle, rakkaalle, nauravalle, mahtavalle, ihanalle, kiireiselle, tyttarellemme Mayalle! Maya on opettanut minulle niin paljon. Mina nauran ja itken ja hermostun. Maya on nayttanyt minulle miten paljon mun karsivallisyys on kasvanut. Olemme niin siunattuja kun meilla on niin terve ja ihana lapsi. Han on kaikki mita ois voitu pyytaa ja paljon enemmankin! Sinun aiti ja iska rakastavat sinua NIIN paljon!!

Leveling the house. Talon tasottaminen

The way the houses are built in Bethel requires annual leveling due to the ever changing frozen tundra. OUr rental house was due. Our front door no longer stayed closed and if you dropped something on the floor it rolled towards the kitchen. SO, Aki and Pappa leveled the house with some wood and a lazer level. It was something that my dad and Aki have never done before! They did a great job. Doors are closing and objects land and stay put!

Bethelin talot pitaa vuosittain tasottaa roudan takia. Tassa Pertti ja Aki tasottaa meidan vuokra taloa. Oli kylla aika. Meidan etu ovi ei pysynyt kiinni ja jos jotain tippui lattialle se lahti pyorimaan kohti keittio. Pappa ja Aki tasoittavat talon ja tekivat hyvan tyon. Ovet nyt menee kiinni ja esineet pysyvat paikallaan kun tippuuvat lattialle!

Maya

Maya knows how to jump with 2 feet! There isn't alot of air under her feet when she does, but it's a real jump! And maybe every third jump is successful, but she is so proud! Maya's vocabulary grows daily! It is amazing! She loves to put diapers on her dolls and then check the diapers and then make a face showing that there is "a poop".. and then the Desitin has to be used on each of her doll's butts. She copies everything. She takes me or her grandmother and leads us through her own bedtime routine. She lays us down in her bed and she lies down on the floor next to the bed and tells us "night night" and says "shush". It's hilarious!

Maya oppi hyppimaan! Ei ole kylla paljon ilmaa kalkojen alla mutta kylla sita on!! Ja tietysti yksi yritys kolmesta onnistuu mutta Maya on niin ylpea itestaan! Mayan sanavarasto kasvaa paivittain. Ihmeellista! Maya tykkaa laittaa vaippoja nukkeille ja sitten katsoo vaippaan ja tekee semmoisen ilmeen etta varmasti on iso kakka! Ja sitten pitaa voidetta laittaa joka nuken pyllyyn.. Maya matkii hirveesti. Esimmerkiksi Maya matkii meidan nukkumaanmenoa. Han laittaa minut tai Mamman omaan sankyyn nukkumaan unilelun ja peiton kanssa ja sanoo hyva yota (englanniksi) ja sitten ite menee laitailla kollottelemaan niinkuin me tehdaan joskus. Tosi hauskaa!

Toddler bed update... Tiedot uudesta sangysta

Well, Maya has slept 3 nights in her new toddler bed. The first night went fine. I had to rub her back to go to sleep and she woke up during the night and came to our room with a soaking wet diaper. THe last 2 nights went better. Last night she slept the entire night in her bed without waking up! I haven't been sleeping as well since she has moved to the toddler bed. I am hypervigilent listening for her getting up out of bed. Maybe since last night went so well I can let myself relax and just SLEEP!
Maya is now a train fan. She loves Thomas the Tank Engine and any other train that she sees. She calls it "jing jing"!!

Maya on nukkunut 3 yota omassa uudessa sangyssa. Eka yo meni hyvin. Piti silittaa Mayan selkaa illalla ennenkun han nukahti ja yolla Maya tuli meidan huoneeseen marassa vaipassa. Viime yona Maya nukkui koko yon hyvin! Mina en ole nukkunut niin hyvin kun aina kuuntelen jos Maya nousee sangysta. Toivottavasti voi rentoutua ens yona kun edellinen yo meni niin hyvin! Maya on nyt juna hullu! Han tykkaa Tuomas Junasta ja kaikkea muita junia. Han kutsuu niita "jing, jing!"

Here is the name of our street. It is so long that nobody uses the real name. We call our road "third road", since it's the third road in our neighborhood. Tassa on meidan kadun nimi. Se on niin pitka ja vaikea ettei ketaan kayta sita. Meidan katu on kutsuttu "kolmas katu" koska se on kolmas katu tassa asuinalueella!




Maya got a new Dora the Explorer pillowcase to go with her new big girl bed. Maya sai uuden Dora tyynyliinan koska Maya on iso tytto ja han nukkuu ison tyton sangyssa!

Fourth of July weekend. Itsennaisyyspaivan viikonloppu

Last weekend was the long Fourth of July weekend and Aki and I got to go out on the boat and camping with two of our good friends...adults only! The grandparents watched Maya and our friends' son for us! The weather was HOT!! Record heat in Bethel of 83 degrees! It's amazing how your perspective on temperatures changes over time! We had a great time relaxing and enjoying ourselves! We even caught some fish!

Viime viikonloppuna oli Amerikan itsennaisyyspaiva viikonloppu. Akin kanssa paastiin veneilee ja teltailee hyvien ystavien kanssa...ilman lapsia! Kaikki isavanhemmat vahtivat Mayaa ja ystavimme poikaa. Oli ihanaa olla rauhassa ja nauttia mahtavasta ilmasta! Myos saimme kalaa!

Maya is getting so big! She is such a copy cat! And her vocabulary is growing daily. She loves to sit in the car and pretend to drive. If you give her your eyeglasses she will clean them by blowing on them and then rubbing the lenses with her shirt.

Maya on niin iso jo! Ja on semmoinen matki-apina! Ja tyton sanavarasto kasvaa paivittain! Maya tykkaa istua autossa ja "ajaa" Neiti jo sanoo "ajaa". Maya pesee silmalaseja- han puhaltaa linsseihin ja sitten pyyhkii ne paidanhelmaan!

Oora huuhteli kultaa ja sai jonkun verran! Pyyda hanet nayttamaan hanen Alaskan kultaa kun naet hanet seuraavan kerran!

The rest of our RV trip went well. We spent a night in a very cute and quaint town called Hope. Aki got to fish and there was alot of history. It was a gold mining town and many buildings were over 100 years old!!

Meidan loppu asuntoauto reissu meni hyvin. Olimme yhden yon pienessa kylassa nimeltaan Hope. Aki paasi kalastaa ja myos oli paljon historiaa. Sielta loytyi kultaa sata vuotta sitten ja monet rakennukset oli yli 100 vuotta vanhoja!
