Cama-i Dance Festival. Cama-i Eskimo Tanssi Festivaali

My friend made Maya and I matching Kuspuks (the traditional Yup'ik clothing) a while back and we decided to wear them to the Dance Festival yesterday!

I went to the Cama-i Eskimo Dance Festival yesterday in the afternoon with Maya and then with a friend in the evening. It was a wonderful day with beautiful drumming and dancing. The highlight was Mary Ann Sundown, a 90 year old Yup'ik elder from Scammon Bay who is STILL dancing! Maya saw alot of her preschool friends there...!

Kavin Cama-i Eskimo Tanssi festivaaleissa eilen iltapaivalla Mayan kanssa ja sitten uudestaan illalla ystavan kanssa. Oli ihana paiva ja ihanaa rumpuamista ja tanssimista. Kohohetki oli kun 90 v Mary Ann Sundown tanssi Yup'ik tanssia!
Maya naki paljon hanen koulukavereita siella!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY ELIAS!! 27 Mar 2010

Happy 1st Birthday to our dear son and brother Elias! It's amazing how fast the time goes by. We now have a walking, climbing, smiling, laughing, hugging toddler. He is such a cute child and so very happy! He also is very affectionate and loves to hug and be held alot. We are so blessed to have such wonderful little person in our lives!

Hyvaa syntymapaivaa meidan 1 vuotiaalle Eliakselle! Ihme miten nopeasti aika menee. Meilla on nyt kaveleva, kiipeilva, hymyileva, naurava, ja haleja antava lapsi! Elias on niin sopo ja niin iloinen lapsi. Tosi hella ja haluaa antaa haleja ja olla sylissa. Olemme niin kiitollisia Eliaksesta!

Hello-
Life has sure been busy. I feel bad because I don't post as often as I did when Maya was little. I feel like her life has been documented better than Elias'.
We have gotten back to the swing of things after a 4 hour time difference and then the 1 hour time change the week after we got back from Florida. We had a great time in Florida! Elvi-Mamma is coming to visit us this summer and Maya knows that mamma will get here when the snow is gone. SOmetimes she asks daily if Mamma's coming tomorrow!
Elias got another ear infection and now we are scheduled for ear tube placement next month. I am in the middle of studying for my physician assistant recertification exam that I have to take every 6 years... I can't believe I've been practicing as a PA six year in August! Time goes by fast! Maya has learned how to spell her last name in addition to her first name! Such a smarty-pants!

Meilla on ollut kiiretta! Mulla on vahan paha mieli kun tuntuu etta yllapidin tata blogia paljon paremmin kun Maya oli pieni. TUntuu etta Mayan elamasta on dokumentoitu paremmin kun ELiaksen..
Ollaan paasty tahan meida elaman rytmiin ihan mukavasti vaikka oli 4 tunnin aika ero kun tultiin takaisin ja sitten seuraavana viikonloppuna siirettiin kelloa tunnin etteenpain. Ja kylla meilla oli hauskaa Floridassa! Elvi-Mamma tulee kesalla taas tanne Alaskaan ja Maya puhuu siita jatkuvasti ja sanoo etta "Mamma dujee dun on desa!" Kun "k" aani ei viela suju Mayalla. Neiti vaan odottaa etta lumet sulaa pois etta Mamma sitten tulis. Ja sitten viela kun Mamma on luvannut Prinsessa kakun synttariksi!! Elias kavelee ja nyt kiipeilee- ja on niin ylpee kun paasee jakkaran paalle tai laatikon paalle seisoo. Tuntuu etten kerkee mitaan tassa talossa tekee kun pittaa yhden silman pojassa kiinni jatkuvasti! (Miten sina Hilkka sen jaksoit kolmen pojan aitina?!?) Minulla on ollut kiiretta kun luen minun physician assistant tenttiin minka minun pitaa tentata joka 6 vuotta. Olen ollut tassa alassa jo 6 vuotta elokuussa! Aika on mennyt niin nopeasti!
Maya osaa nyt sukunimea kirjoittaa ulkoa- viisas tytto (aitiinsa tullut :)

We celebrated Elias' first birthday in Stuart about 3 weeks early. We had a great time! Elias liked his cake! He picked off all the blueberries...

So, here we are. Elias is officially walking... ALOT! He can walk 10-20-30 steps without any problems! When he falls, he then starts crawling because he can't stand up without holding onto something yet. But he's getting faster and faster each day!
And Elias turned 11 months old a few days ago!

No, taalla kavellaan kovaa tahtia! Elias pystyy kavella monta kymmenia askeleita. Kun Ukko kaatuu han sitten jatkaa konttaamalla kun han ei osaa nousta seisoo ilman tukea.. Ja Elias taytti 11 kuukautta muutama paiva sitten!

Here we went to a Disney character breakfast at the hotel that my conference was held last week. We all had a great time! Maya was afraid of Braer Fox and Braer Bear.
